Airtel customers been mailed by CEO & MD, Gopal Vittal with subject title as "Clearing misconceptions around Airtel Zero". The largest telecom in India, starts the battle to ruin Net Neutrality across the country, claims that they were never against Net Neutrality.

Vittal says,

"There is no difference between this and toll free voice such as 1-800. (toll free call numbers starting from 1800). When a company selling an insurance product enrols into the toll free voice platform, customers who call the number are not charged but when they call a normal number they are charged. Calls are not blocked or given preferential treatment else our whole business would be jeopardized. Toll free voice helps the business owner engage with their customer. At the same time it provides the customer the benefit of reaching the business for free. Toll free voice is not a product or a tariff plan, it is merely a technology platform. We are simply taking the same concept of toll free voice to the world of data. As a result it is for the application developer and their customer to decide how data charges will be paid for. If the application developer is on the platform they pay for the data and their customer does not. If the developer is not on the platform the customer pays for data as they do now. Companies are free to choose whether they want to be on the platform or not. This does not change access to the content in any way whatsoever. Customers are free to choose which web site they want to visit, whether it is toll free or not. If they visit a toll free site they are not charged for data. If they visit any other site normal data charges apply."

They made up a well planned escape story to call Airtel Zero as an online toll free facility, but this story still did not answer, "Why Airtel Zero is giving preference to websites, developers, or any individuals to appear on their platform? ".

Net Neutrality simply says, "Every website on internet, Every content on internet should have equal importance and any content should open at exact same speed." If any telecom company really wants to support Net Neutrality or if they want to increase the reach of internet to every person in the country, they should make internet free from data charges or reduce the data rates to a minimal affordable tariff.

Mail sent by Gopal Vittal to Airtel customers looks like this,

Dear Customer

Over the last few days you may have seen a lot of conversation on our toll free platform Airtel Zero. It has been painted as a move that violates net neutrality and we have been very concerned at the incorrect information that has been carried by some quarters in the media as well as in social media. I wanted to take this opportunity to clear the air and reiterate that we are completely committed to net neutrality. Let me clarify.

  1. Our vision is to have every Indian on the internet. There are millions of Indians who think that the internet is expensive and do not know what it can do for them. We believe that every Indian has the right to be on the internet. We know that if we allow them to experience the joys of the internet they will join the digital revolution.

  2. Airtel Zero is a technology platform that connects application providers to their customers for free. The platform allows any content or application provider to enroll on it so that their customers can visit these sites for free. Instead of charging customers we charge the providers who choose to get on to the platform.

  3. Our platform is open to all application developers, content providers and internet sites on an equal basis. The same rate card is offered to all these providers on a totally non discriminatory basis.

  4. There is no difference between this and toll free voice such as 1-800. If they visit any other site normal data charges apply.

  5. Finally every web site, content or application will always be given the same treatment on our network whether they are on the toll free platform or not. As a company we do not ever block, throttle or provide any differential speeds to any web site. We have never done it and will never do it. We believe customers are the reason we are in business. As a result we will always do what is right for our customers.
There has been a deliberate effort by some quarters to confuse people that we will offer differential speeds or differential access for different sites. This is untrue. After all we earn revenues from data. If there are more customers who are on the Internet the better it is for our business. Our revenues are not dependent on which sites they visit because we charge on the basis of consumption of mega bytes not which site they visited.

In sum our platform is a technology platform and is open to all application developers and their customers. Our platform only provides a choice of how the data that is consumed is paid for by any of the two - the application provider or their customer. Whether any application provider enrolls on the platform or not is entirely their choice. All we have is a technology. We do not have a product or tariff plan that we have launched. We simply have a platform. And every application developer and their customer is free to choose in an entirely neutral way what they want to do.

In conclusion, we stand fully committed to net neutrality to ensure the goals of the Prime Minister`s vision of digital India are met.

Gopal Vittal

TIMES 100 is an annual list of top 100 most influential people given by American news magazine Time. "The 100 Most Influential People" list 2015 is out and four Indians strikes the list this time.

Four Indians who made us proud cracking into Time 100 includes the Prime Minister of  largest democracy in the world Narendra Damodardas Modi,  CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella, CEO & MD of  ICICI (India's largest private bank) Chanda Kochhar,  and co-founder of the NGO Sangath Vikram Patel.

Net Neutrality fight, caught high speed as more than 1.5 lakh mails has been sent to TRAI to support Net Neutrality in India.
Flipkart stands out as Net Neutrality supporter and will be the larger cause of Net Neutrality in India, announced on Tuesday early morning.

After having hard hits on social media on Flipkart's image against Net Neutrality and being partner on Airtel Zero, finally Sachin Bansal, CEO Flipkart, stated:

We at Flipkart have always strongly believed in the concept of net neutrality, for we exist because of the Internet. Over the past few days, there has been a great amount of debate, both internally and externally, on the topic of zero rating, and we have a deeper understanding of the implications. Based on this, we have decided on the following:

- We will be walking away from the ongoing discussions with Airtel for their platform Airtel Zero.

- We will be committing ourselves to the larger cause of Net Neutrality in India. We will be internally discussing over the next few days, the details of actions we will take to support the cause.

- We will be working towards ensuring that the spirit of net neutrality is upheld and applied equally to all companies in India irrespective of the size or the service being offered and there is absolutely no discrimination whatsoever. "

Its just a start of winning journey of Net Neutrality in India. We can imagine the power of a common man if we stand out together. Just a small example of what can we do as an Indian if we stand out together.

Cheers! for the moment. The winning ceremony will be huge when Airtel will drop its plan. Long way to go still, let's get back to the work! Have a great day.

"The era of holographic computing is here."

Specially I like this punch line "When you change the way you see the world, you can change the world you see."

They say that “Transform your world with holograms.”

HoloLens envisioned a world where technology could become more personal where it could adapt to the natural ways we communicate, learn, and create. Where our digital lives would seamlessly connect with real life.

The result is the world’s most advanced holographic computing platform, enabled by Windows 10. For the first time ever, Microsoft HoloLens brings high-definition holograms to life in your world, where they integrate with your physical places, spaces, and things.

Holograms will improve the way you do things every day, and enable you to do things you’ve never done before.

Microsoft HoloLens puts you at the center of a world that blends holograms with reality. With the ability to design and shape holograms, you’ll have a new medium to express your creativity, a more efficient way to teach and learn, and a more effective way to visualize your work and share ideas. Your digital content and creations will be more relevant when they come to life in the world around you.

As holograms, your digital content will be as real as physical objects in the room. For the first time, holograms will become practical tools of daily life.

Shape holograms to fine-tune a design. Interact with them to learn something new. When you share your ideas, show and tell from multiple perspectives. Microsoft HoloLens enables you to make decisions more confidently, work more effectively, and bring your ideas to life right before your eyes.

Microsoft HoloLens goes beyond augmented reality and virtual reality by enabling you to interact with three-dimensional holograms blended with your real world. Microsoft HoloLens is more than a simple heads-up display, and its transparency means you never lose sight of the world around you. High-definition holograms integrated with your real world will unlock all-new ways to create, communicate, work, and play.

There isn’t a screen to touch or a mouse to click. Use gestures to create, shape, and size holograms. Use your eyes to navigate and explore. Use your voice to communicate with your apps. Microsoft HoloLens understands your movements, vision, and voice, enabling you to interact with content and information in the most natural way possible.
